Sixteen Going On Seventeen

Today was SWEET. I got to speak both French & German--I even gave directions from how to get from Mt. Rushmore to Yellowstone in Wyoming to this German couple... I feel like such a ranger!

Also, random story, this woman comes up to me, complaining about some trail marker that's misplaced or something... then she stops herself and goes, "Wait, why am I complaining to you? You're like 17."  I was quite offended, but then I asked my co-workers how old I looked and I got "26" & "24" so I felt better...

Also, there was this 7-year-old who asked my co-worker for a "rubber" today... after doing a double take, my co-worker realized this kid was British and wanted an eraser.  I am SO excited for all the stories I am gonna get this summer.

My boss told me I'm getting a roommate in a few weeks... FAIL. But maybe he'll have a car!! Also, this detail should not deter any potential visitors from staying with me; my apartment is quite spacious!  My boss also told me that I need to start organizing my ranger-walk-talk because I start giving tours in about a week and a half! Score!

Random Mt. Rushmore fact of the day: Jefferson is the only Rushmore president who is not looking straight ahead; he is looking up towards the sky. Borglum, the sculptor, had to carve him this way because otherwise his nose would've fallen off.
