I spent most of the day in the Information Center today...
I particularly enjoy answering the phone because some of the conversations I have are so ridiculous.
-"Mount Rushmore Information Center, this is Jacob."
-"Hi, is this where I get information on Mount Rushmore?"
Really?? Really??
This girl in her 20s walked into the Information Center today... she goes, "I lost my cell phone on the trail; is there a lost-and-found here?" I told her that sadly, no one had turned in a cell phone as of a few hours, but she could fill out a form, and if someone returned it, Mt. Rushmore would send it to her. Then she says, "Well... I lost the cell phone on the trail about 4 years ago... I had a ten dollar bill stuck inside the phone, too..."
Sometimes there are no words.
My day ended with several of the rangers--bored out of our minds--singing TV theme songs to the visitors. Ah, the life of a park ranger!
Tomorrow a bunch of the rangers are going on a FIELD TRIP!! If the weather's nice... WYOMING!! If the weather sucks... NEBRASKA!! Stay tuned for details regarding this critical decision.
sometimes people call me at the library to ask what day it is.
