Labe Linklin

Another good day! Damn, I hope these "good day" posts aren't getting boring for you...
I'll try to have a bad day soon...

There was this Asian family today who didn't speak any English--they were reallllly struggling, so I asked them if they wanted a brochure in another language... they go, "German?"  Every day, my life becomes more and more complete.

Mt. Rushmore--along with every other national park in the U.S.--has this Junior Ranger program, where little kids fill out a booklet by answering facts about Mt. Rushmore... things like "Who was the first president?" and "Which president ended slavery?"  If they fill out the booklet accurately, they get a Junior Ranger Badge, which is like winning the lotto for these kids.  This Junior Ranger Badge is the ULTIMATE status symbol among children whose parents drag them to national parks.  The kids also get sworn in; it's the cutest, most hysterical thing I've ever seen... they have to raise their right hands and repeat after the rangers, "I promise to protect the parks and leave them cleaner than when I found them. Additionally, I will tell other people to visit the parks... blahblahblah."  Today, one kid told me his favorite president on Mt. Rushmore was "Labelaham Linklin"... I really love my job.

My boss also told me that my ranger tour guides are going to be evaluated, as in, I'm going to be graded.  I don't know how I feel about this... Have to go practice!
