Today was my first day of work anddddd I love it here.
And I take back what I said yesterday about not being able to see the faces or it being smaller than I thought. I obviously must have been high or something when I wrote that. Mt. Rushmore is spectacular and huge and the faces are quite defined... especially Teddy Roo; he's a cutie pie.
I got my uniform today (don't worry, I'll put pictures of me-in-uniform up tomorrow). I also got to do cool things like answer the phone and say, "Mount Rushmore Information Center; Jacob speaking." OH AND there was a Belgian family visiting and I gave them a spiel about the park in French! C'etait incroyable! I also liked talking to one woman who was especially fashionable; she had a really nice Jesus hat with THREE jeweled crosses on the front. I NEED to get one of those.
I am also SO happy I have an iPhone now, because I can take millions of awesome-quality official park-ranger pictures with it:
Look out for the man in uniform!

(P.S. if you watch "Parks & Rec," my boss is EXACTLY like Ron Swanson and I work with a guy named Jerry.)
glad the job is fun because someone was nervous :-p
ReplyDeletei've never seen you under the influence of you know what. but, damn, glad the faces are clear.
a plus that you used french. awes
why did she need three crosses? the god, holy spirit and the son? i dont know as i am a jew
outfit pictures w hat are needed but you said that, so fine
I love Ron Swanson. and Jerry.
what are other responsibilities? and how was the walk?
KIM!!! I was nervous but I'm really loving it here. Minus the crazy Jesus people... three crosses was a little much; one rhinestone crucifix would have been much classier, in my opinion. Other responsibilities include standing around in my uniform and pointing people to various trails and other fun Mt. Rushmore activities. And knock wood, people have driven me to the mountain... let's hope a fellow ranger doesn't forget tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love parks and recs...you should totally use them as your guides for how to work for parks...or just spend hours reading this: http://tomhaverfoods.com/
